Yinthway Foundation Store
Little Golden Rabbit ECCD StoreThis friendly store is located in downtown Yangon, behind Bo Kyoke Market. The store sells the books that Yinthway Foundation creates as well as training materials, parenting books and toys from various local cottage industries.
The store has gained international recognition because of it’s interactive educational materials that are made by local cottage industry groups such as the Zion’s Disabled Womens group. The store is a physical example of how holistic education which involves the whole community in the upbringing of the child benefits the community. This stands in stark contrast to orphanages which remove children from their families and communities for the sake of education.
The store handles large wholesale orders for organizations such as UNICEF and Save the Children, as well as individual purchases. The products are made locally and lean towards materials that are natural and help stimulate creativity. The store has great handbooks for new parents, block toys, memory games and puzzles, training manuals, learning posters and many other fun educational materials.
The store has also become a favorite stop for tourists on their way up-country who come to buy children’s books to take as presents for the child guides at the Mrauk-U pagodas, for street kids in Mandalay or novice monks at Inle Lake.
Yinthway Foundation is in a convenient location, behind Bo Kyoke Market. There is a bridge that goes over the train-tracks behind Bo Kyoke Market that you can take to reach Yaw Min Gye Road:

Directions to Yinthway Foundation ECCE store:
Yaw Min Gye Road is the road between the Thamada Hotel and Grand Park Royal Hotel.
The shop is down the lane just past the Daewoo Office. This will be on your right hand side if Thamada is behind you. At the beginning of this lane is a tea-shop. If you are hungry or need a drink of lapaye (strong Burmese tea) this is a great place to stop. The Yinthway staff recommend it as being clean and delicious.
Past the tea shop, at the end of the lane you will see on the building to your right a sign with a picture of a rabbit reading a book. The sign is written in Burmese with the letters ECCD. This is the building you are after. Enter and go up the stairs to the first floor. Open the door and go in. Some staff speak English and will be happy to help you however they can.
